The Wizard of Oz is one of the greatest movies of all time, and it’s not a debate. After watching this movie so many times, I start to gradually increase my appreciation and interest in the movie itself. I decided to watch this again because I wanted to compare how I viewed it in the black and white and normal movies. Although the movie is the exact same thing, it was making me feel as if there was something missing, almost that it was a bit empty. I can definitely say that after experimenting with this, I am extremely grateful that colorized movies became a thing. Without it, it really isn’t the same.

This movie is based off of Dorothy, and her struggles to get back to Kansas. Although she ends up making some great friends and enjoying herself along the way, that will never change the fact that no place is better than home, one of the famous quotes from the movie. She struggles to find her way, by taking the yellow brick road she finds herself in danger a lot and has to overcome a lot of different people and creatures. Her new friends, all some form of a creature are missing things, things they need to get back. They decide to help Dorothy solely to get what they need, and in the end are definitely rewarded with it. When she gets to go back home, she is extremely excited and her journey definitely changed the person that she was. Now she is more confident, independent and curious.

At first glance, this movie didn’t do anything special to tell me anything I didn’t know, or blow my mind. What I realize now is that it showed what it is like to lose your way and have to find new ways to get back on track. This movie feels real, and everything that it showed, good or bad happens for a reason. How it was able to tell it’s story in a very “straightforward” way was what makes it famous. There is a goal, and they all follow through with their goal. I remember writing a review on the colorized version earlier this year, and watching the black and white was fulfilling. Like I mentioned last time, this is my mom's favorite movie of all time, or at least one of her favorites, and I can definitely see why. It is old fashioned, funny and real. It makes you think a lot and Dorothy causes you to think about your life through her eyes.

In conclusion, I loved this movie, again. Anyone with a heart should watch it, just because of the storyline. It creates so many feelings and thoughts for me, and just out of my own enjoyment, I wanted to watch it again. It was also an easy one to pick based on the fact that I am not necessarily interested in black and white movies. The realness and authenticity is unmatched and I was really happy that I chose this one. Yes, it is a classic and it is one of the highest ranked on the movie lists, and that is for good reason. This is probably the third black and white movie I’ve seen and I am happy I did it.
